The First 5 Things To Do After You Get Engaged

Getting engaged is such an exciting time. So exciting in fact that it can send your brain into over drive with all of the things you want to do, but it can be hard to know where to start! That's why we have created this little list of the first 5 things to do as soon as you get engaged...

The First 5 Things To Do After You Get Engaged

1. Enjoy the Moment

Couples (ladies especially) feel the pressure to start wedding planning the second they have a ring on their finger. Whilst it is exciting to get the ball rolling, don't forget to take a little time to relax, let the engagement sink in and enjoy the newly engaged bliss. This is one of those times in life where it is perfectly ok for you and your partner to be in your own little bubble for a while. It is also a great time to capture some photographs so that you can reminisce on this special time in years to come.

2. Announce Your Engagement

Once you and your partner are ready to emerge from your bubble, it's time to share your exciting news with your loved ones. But don't be hasty! Think of the most perfect way to break the news to people. You only get to do this once, so if you'd prefer to tell those closest to you face to face, then don't be afraid to wait to do so.

3. Throw an Engagement Party

What better way to celebrate your engagement than by bringing everyone together for one big party! Not only does this give you the chance to mark the occasion and have fun but it is also an opportunity to introduce all of your friends and family to your partners friends and family. Just call it the wedding warm up!

Did you know - Alcumlow Wedding Barn can now be hired for engagement parties via our sister website, The Cheshire Event Barn.

4. Set a Wedding Budget

Now that all of the engagement celebrations are done, it's time to start planning your wedding celebrations! Before you even begin the process, it is important to sit down with your partner to make a realistic wedding budget. This will keep you grounded throughout the process if you regularly refer back to it. It is also wise to record all of your upcoming costs and payments as you go so that there are no nasty surprises later down the line.

5. Start Wedding Planning!

Finally the moment is here - It's time to start wedding planning! Armed with your budget and no doubt your Pinterest board, you are free to enjoy the process. Try to stay ahead of yourself in the planning process to avoid stress, and most of all, enjoy yourself!
