When the summer sun has set out and winter comes around, Alcumlow Wedding Barn comes into its own.
Warmed by the hearty heating system and lit by the thousands of twinkling fairy lights, it is a welcoming and cosy place to be. It is the perfect setting for those who love the winter season to tie the knot.
The Ceremony
Couples can walk down our beautiful barn aisle, lined with your choice of winter décor and say ‘I do’ in an intimate ceremony setting. Cheshire East Registrars are highly regarded and are happy to incorporate readings or speeches from loved ones to create a ceremony which is perfect for you.
Alternatively, more traditional couples can opt for a church wedding and join us post-ceremony to continue with the celebrations. The beautiful Astbury Church with its sweeping staircase, breath-taking steeple and quirky style is located just minutes down the road.
The Décor
Alcumlow Wedding Barn comes complete with a sky of fairy lights, tables and chairs, cake and food tables, a sweet cart, a post box, a tub of cosy blankets and many other special touches. All of which can be removed if not to taste.
Table décor is added (and sometimes even hand-made!) by our brides and grooms which gives couples the chance to really put their own personal stamp on the venue.
For those who share the exact same rustic tastes as us and prefer one less thing to worry about, we offer stunning winter wedding décor which can be hired at a reasonable price.
Our winter décor option includes the foliage inspired centre pieces and top table décor, the hanging light ceiling which creates a real feature above the top table, the whimsical wooden hearts with hanging pine cones to line the aisle and the large lanterns filled with festive pine cones and fairy lights.
The Food
Couples are encouraged to work closely with any of our Caterers, which inlcude Wild Garlic, Ridgway Caterers and Plat Du Jour, to create the perfect winter wedding menu for them.
For those who want to run with the winter theme then why not go for something warm and hearty such as seasonal soups, pie and mash, a hog roast or a rustic banquet.,
The Drinks
A great selection of Winter warmers are available at Alcumlow Wedding Barn including; Winter Pimm’s, mulled wine and hot chocolate. All can be displayed in quirky style on our grazing table, creating something straight off a Pinterest board.
The bar is always fully stocked, offering a wide selection of beer, cider, wine, prosecco, champagne, spirits, mixers and various soft drinks.
If you would like to stock a specific festive fave then we will do what we can to make this possible.
The Flowers
When it comes to flowers, winter weddings allow you to break the mould. Simplistic statements speak volumes in Winter weddings and bring your photographs to life.
For couples who are opting for a more traditional winter wedding embellished with tartan and bells then a deep green bouquet filled with holly berries may be your choice, or if like us you like the crisp frosted look then why not opt for a foliage heavy bouquet dotted with beautiful white flowers and cotton. Our bouquet, button hole and floral crown were sourced from the incredibly talented Flower Passion. Bursting with avalanche roses, eucalyptus boule and noblis they were simply stunning.
The Cake
You only have to look on Pinterest to see that the ideas for winter wedding cakes are endless. Matching your wedding cake to the theme of your winter wedding is essential, whether it be with greenery, deep berries, tartan effect icing or sparkles. We asked The Sugared Thistle Cake Co to come up with a festive wedding cake to suit the theme of our barn and we were delighted with how this four tier beauty came out. Coated in white icing for that ‘dusting of snow’ look and dressed with foliage and berries, this delicious cake sits upon the classic tree stump surrounded with pine cones creating the perfect winter scene.
The Dress
Winter wedding dresses are extremely elegant and classy.
Long sleeves are a popular option for many winter brides. Not only are they highly flattering but they keep you warm throughout the day, allowing you to use the grounds at Alcumlow Wedding Barn to get those stunning outdoor photographs. Some are even lucky enough to get some stunning snowy backdrops!
If you don’t want to feel restricted by long sleeves, then why not opt for a strapless or smaller sleeved dress and add layers when needed. A faux fur or feather shrug adds a touch of luxury, while a white wool coat and even a premium snood and gloves set adds the ultimate cosy Christmas feel.
All of the stunning winter wedding dresses used in our photographs are by Wendy Makin, sourced from the lovely Swan Brides in Congleton.
